Bages Cargol has kindly donated 10 live snails (aka Manuel, Federico, Enrica, Alfonso, Madalena, Javier, Esmeralda, Frida, Pablo & Catalina) to boredomresearch for their exhibition of Real Snail Mail at ARCO, Madrid (17th-21st Feb 2010). Real Snail Mail is the world’s first messaging service to harness the potential of diminutive molluscs to deliver email messages. Email messages travel at the speed of light to boredomresearchs’ collection point where they wait for a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) equipped snail to pass by. Once collected the message is carried by the snail until such time as it happens by the dispatch centre and is finally forwarded to its recipient.
